Description

Our Client (Government of Alberta) is seeking a Senior Project Manager with demonstrated experience in project management delivering IT solutions.

Project: The Justice Information Management System (JIMS) 3.0 is a data integration project aimed to amalgamate, re-design and implement several disjointed reporting data marts containing court data into an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW).

The existing data marts extract, process, re-structure and aggregate data required for strategic, operational and ad-hoc reporting of court data stored in the Justice Online Information Network (JOIN) database. This project will replace the existing six stand-alone IBM Cognos BI data marts: JIMS 1.0, Crown File Ownership (CFO), Court Case Management (CCM), Courtroom Utilization, Courtroom Activity, and Case Adjournment) with a well-integrated data warehouse.

The goal of the project is to evolve availability, governance, and reporting of court data by implementing a more efficient, user-friendly, faster, and cost-effective reporting architecture.

This Senior Project Manager role will be joining a project in progress. The successful candidate is expected to have a broad skill set and be capable of performing diverse functions and activities, including but not limited to:

Experience Required/Mandatory Skills
  • Proposed resource must meet or exceed one of the following:
    University graduation in business, management or related discipline & 4-yr Project Management (PM) experience;
    OR 2-yr diploma in business, management or related discipline & 6-yr PM experience; OR  1-yr certificate in business, management or related discipline & 7-yr PM experience; OR  8-yr PM experience

  • Experience working as a Project Manager on a large complex data warehouse development project in an environment of similar size and complexity to the Government of Alberta.

  • Experience managing multiple projects concurrently.

  • Experience defining project vision, scope and goals in collaboration with business stakeholders.

  • Experience developing project deliverables including project charters, business cases, briefing notes, status reports, risk and decision logs, and project closure documents.

  • Experience managing teams (of at least 5 team members) who develop custom data warehouse solutions.

  • Experience successfully implementing IT solutions in an environment with project resources from across multiple teams or organizations.

  • Proposed resource has agreed to an Enhanced Security Check upon contract award, which will be coordinated by GoA.

  • MUST have the last 3 years continuous residency in either Canada or United States as minimum.

  • Proposed resource MUST work from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.

Standard Hours of work are 08:15 - 16:30 Alberta time



Nice To Have Skills
  • Experience developing and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships across and outside the organization, including executive level.

  • Experience leading project governance, change management and communication activities.

  • Experience working in or for the public sector.

  • Experience working with information management and cybersecurity policies, directives, and guidelines within limited timelines.

  • Experience exercising resourcefulness when making recommendations on highly technical or complex business issues without formal guidelines or precedents.

  • Experience working with business and technical teams on complex IMT projects.

  • Experience conducting, facilitating and interpreting impact and risk assessments.

  • Experience creating and managing project forecast and actual budgets.

  • Experience managing projects where development follows an agile or hybrid approach to deliver value while managing a project plan to help manage scope, timelines and budget.

  • Currently active PMP or PGMP Certification as issued by the Project Management Institute or equivalent
