What You’ll Do:
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines across on-premises and cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS.
- Ensure data quality, security, and governance in compliance with best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into effective data models and architectures.
- Build and optimize reports, dashboards, and visualizations using Power BI, Tableau, and Python libraries.
- Perform exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and deliver insights supporting policy and service improvements.
- Manage data migrations and troubleshooting across diverse environments, utilizing tools like SSIS, Azure Data Factory, APIs, and version control systems.
What You Bring to the Table:
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Over 10 years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer and/or Data Analyst.
- Proven expertise designing dimensional models (star and snowflake schemas) for data warehousing and analytics.
- Extensive experience developing reports, dashboards, and visualizations with Power BI, Tableau, or Python.
- Strong skills in SQL, NoSQL, data manipulation, and working with large, disconnected datasets.
- Familiarity with modern DevOps practices including Git, CI/CD workflows, Docker/Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, CloudFormation).
- Knowledge of data pipelines, migration strategies, and data governance principles.
- Ability to work effectively remotely and collaborate with teams in a fast-paced, Agile environment.
Nice to Have:
- Experience in advanced analytics, statistical modeling, or predictive analytics.
- Knowledge of Alberta government or similar public sector settings.
- Experience with Azure Databricks, AI/machine learning, and NLP technologies.
- Programming/scripting expertise in object-oriented and functional languages.
Additional Requirements:
- Proven examples of complex data projects with detailed descriptions.
- Ability to attend occasional meetings or work sessions in Edmonton as needed.
- Willingness to work within a collaborative, agile environment with evolving project needs.
