Description Senior Data Engineer – Powering Digital Innovation for Alberta's Future

Required Skills:
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or related roles
  • Expertise in designing, building, and maintaining scalable data pipelines
  • Strong proficiency with SQL and cloud-based data platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Hands-on experience with data integration and ETL/ELT processes
  • Skilled in programming languages like Python, Java, or Scala
  • Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing, and big data technologies (Spark, Hadoop)
  • Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
Nice to Have Skills:
  • Experience working with government or public sector data
  • Knowledge of metadata management and data governance frameworks
  • Familiarity with machine learning and advanced analytics
  • Prior experience with modern data orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, etc.)
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • 10+ years of proven success in data engineering or related roles, with a preference for candidates with a strong track record in large-scale enterprise environments

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Willingness to participate in interviews and follow the outlined process
  • Set clear expectations with stakeholders and maintain transparency throughout project phases
