What You’ll Bring to the Table
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade data pipelines on Microsoft Azure, including Azure Storage (ADLS Gen2), Azure Functions, Event Grid, and Event Hubs
- Proficiency in developing event-driven and batch ingestion architectures with a strong focus on reliability, scalability, and operational maturity
- Expertise with data flow tools, data functions, and cloud infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or Bicep
- Strong SQL skills and programming in Python, with experience in PySpark being a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously, document processes clearly, and enforce best practices in source control and deployment automation
- Knowledge of data normalization, schema design, and storage strategies across different processing zones (raw, curated, conformed)
- Experience working in regulated environments or public sector initiatives is a bonus
Nice to Have Skills - Additional experience with PySpark and Python data transformation tools
- Knowledge of event streaming systems, data quality assurance, and cost-effective architecture design
Preferred Education and Experience - Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (diploma, degree, or equivalent experience)
- 6+ years of professional data engineering or backend integration experience, with solid production environment exposure
Additional Requirements - Immediate availability with no notice period required
- Willingness to work remotely from across Canada, preferably with candidates from Alberta
