Required Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field. 
  • Proven experience designing, planning, implementing, and supporting enterprise-scale solution databases in large and complex environments.
  • Demonstrated ability documenting enterprise solution databases in large, complex settings.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise architecture principles, standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Hands-on experience as a Data Architect within large-scale enterprise IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling, data management, and database design.
  • Proficiency in architecture modeling tools such as PowerDesigner, ER Studio, ER-win, or Rational Rose.
  • Experience translating manual reporting templates into analytics-ready data structures, including object and dimension tables.
  • Familiarity with advanced analytics tools like Databricks and enterprise BI products such as Power BI.
  • Leadership capabilities, including planning, estimating, presenting ideas, and guiding project teams.
Nice to Have Skills
  • Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF). 
  • Experience performing threat and risk assessments with recommendations for mitigation to senior management.
  • Project management experience, especially employing Agile sprint methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and support enterprise architecture database plans and models aligning organizational data with business capabilities.
  • Knowledge of data quality standards, versioning, and historical traceability in data models.
  • Track record of leading cross-functional teams through architecture and data engineering projects.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in enterprise data architecture.
  • Extensive hands-on experience designing and maintaining large-scale enterprise databases and data models.
  • Solid background supporting regulatory or government-related projects is highly desirable.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to work remotely primarily within Alberta, with the flexibility to attend meetings or work sessions in office with reasonable notice.
  • Willingness to work within standard Alberta working hours (8:15 to 4:30).
  • Travel within Alberta for meetings as required, expenses covered by the employer.
  • Security clearances or certifications are beneficial but not mandatory.
