What you will do:

  • Validate and test core data models using environmental monitoring and regulatory datasets
  • Conduct semantic analysis to ensure data consistency, normalization, and comparability
  • Develop exploratory analytical views to assess aggregation, trend stability, and scalability of models
  • Identify potential edge cases early to refine data architecture
  • Collaborate closely with program teams and technical staff during the model design and build phases
Required Skills:

  • Strong experience with data validation, testing core models, and working with large datasets
  • Expertise in semantic analysis, including data normalization and measurement comparability
  • Proficiency in building analytical prototypes within data management platforms
  • Ability to analyze environmental monitoring data and identify data integrity issues
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience working with environmental monitoring or regulatory data
  • Familiarity with data modeling tools and unified business object frameworks
  • Knowledge of environmental standards and measurement protocols
  • Experience in model testing and validation cycles
Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Environmental Science, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data analysis or model validation roles
  • Proven track record of working with large, complex datasets in a regulated environment
Other Requirements:

  • Ability to work from Alberta on a flexible schedule, with occasional in-office visits once a month
  • Strong communication skills to set and manage client expectations
  • Willingness to adapt and learn within a collaborative team environment
