Description Our client is seeking a seasoned Senior Data Architect to lead the design, development, and implementation of enterprise data solutions within a complex, large-scale environment. Responsibilities:
  • Lead and facilitate the definition and management of data architecture principles, strategies, and standards.
  • Conduct detailed data profiling, create design and mapping specifications, and identify critical dimensions for facts within data marts.
  • Develop, test, and refine ETL processes and Power BI reports to ensure high-quality data delivery.
  • Review existing data models, perform gap analysis, and update models reflecting new data attributes.
  • Ensure data quality standards are upheld and promote best practices for data reuse and sharing.
  • Provide expert guidance on enterprise data requirements and contribute to strategic data governance initiatives.
  • Participate in architectural reviews, scope management, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support wider enterprise architecture objectives and foster collaboration across teams.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience designing, planning, and supporting enterprise database solutions in environments in a large and complex environment.
  • Deep expertise in data profiling, data modeling, ETL development, and data governance practices.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, standards, and tools.
  • Skilled in presenting complex ideas and leading technical discussions with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in threat and risk assessments, along with recommending mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in SQL, Transact-SQL, and database development tools.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Cognos BI, and enterprise data warehouses.
Nice to Haves:
  • Certification in The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF) or similar frameworks.
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, big data tools, or enterprise BI solutions.
  • Knowledge of architecture modeling tools such as PowerDesigner, ER Studio, ERwin, or Rational Rose.
  • Project management experience, particularly within Agile environments.
  • Security clearance eligibility, including the potential for RCMP Top Secret clearance.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with at least 5 years of practical experience leading data architecture initiatives in large enterprise settings.
  • Demonstrated success in managing complex data projects from conception through implementation.
Other Requirements:
  • Must be available for possible onsite meetings in Edmonton on short notice (15% of the duration of contract).
  • Eligibility to complete security clearances as required.
  • Work must be performed within Canada and adhere to applicable security protocols.
