Our distinguished client is on the hunt for a Sr. Data Architect (Half-Time) to steer enterprise data strategy and turn complex challenges into streamlined solutions within a large-scale justice information system. Responsibilities
- Lead the definition and management of data architecture principles, strategies, and standards.
- Review and refine existing data marts, perform detailed data profiling, and develop comprehensive mapping specifications.
- Design and implement ETL processes, ensuring data quality and integrity.
- Develop Power BI reports for testing key dimensions and facts, supporting quality assurance activities.
- Update and optimize data models, stage data, and address minor fixes to existing data marts.
- Facilitate design reviews, promote data reuse and sharing, and support enterprise data requirements gathering.
- Lead transition planning towards an ideal future data state, and communicate architectural strategies effectively across teams.
- Provide expert guidance and feedback throughout the project lifecycle, contributing lessons learned at project close.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise databases in a large and complex environment.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture principles, data modeling, and data governance practices.
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases, data warehouses, and ETL development.
- Ability to perform threat and risk assessments and present mitigation strategies to senior stakeholders.
- Leadership skills in planning, estimating, and delivering technical presentations.
Nice to Have Skills
- Certification in TOGAF or similar enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Experience with architecture tools such as PowerDesigner, ER Studio, ERwin, or Rational Rose.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, big data infrastructure, and enterprise BI tools like Cognos, Power BI, MS SQL Server, or MicroStrategy.
- Background in Agile project management and working in large, complex enterprise settings.
Preferred Education and Experience
- A strong candidate will have several years of enterprise data architecture experience, ideally within government or large organizational contexts.
- Hands-on SQL and data warehouse development experience is essential.
- Security clearance eligibility, including potential for a Top Secret clearance, is advantageous.
Other Requirements
- Ability to work primarily remotely with occasional onsite meetings in Edmonton (15% percent of contract onsite / 85% remote). Must work within Canada at all times.
- Candidates must be able to provide their own equipment suitable for AVD and remote collaboration.
- Eligibility for high-level security clearances as required.
