Job Opportunity
Description As a Senior Fabric Architect, you’ll design and build a trusted Microsoft Fabric environment and reporting infrastructure that brings together multiple data sources into clear, decision-ready insights. You’ll also help stakeholders confidently use self-service reporting by delivering both advanced technical training and functional guidance, while championing governance, performance, and best practices across the solution.
Required Skills
  • Power BI expertise: 5+ years of experience with expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and Paginated Reports (SSRS Report Builder)
  • Microsoft Fabric data architecture: 3+ years strong experience designing and implementing data modeling and architecture using Microsoft Fabric components such as Dataflow, Notebook, Pipeline, Warehouse, and Lakehouse/Lake data
  • Certified datasets & governance: 3+ years experience designing and implementing certified datasets and data governance frameworks
  • Sustainable data products: Experience managing sustainable data products within Microsoft Fabric
  • Ingestion & transformation: Hands-on ETL/ELT using Pipelines and Dataflows
  • Storage strategy: Implement a Medallion Architecture within Fabric Lakehouses and Warehouses to organize data by maturity
  • Semantic layering: Build report-ready semantic models that directly power Power BI insights
  • Training and enablement: Ability to provide advanced technical training for users navigating the Fabric ecosystem and backend data structures
  • Stakeholder guidance: Provide functional literacy training to help stakeholders confidently interpret and use reports
Nice to Have Skills
  • Hold both of the following certifications:
    • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Data Engineer Associate (DP-700)
    • Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate (DP-600)
  • Preferred education: degree in computer science, mathematics, or statistics
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Experience: 5+ years in Power BI and relevant Fabric data architecture development
Other Requirements
  • Work location: Proponents are not required to work onsite, but initial onboarding and key stakeholder meetings may require in-person attendance
  • Onsite note: Onboarding/meetings may occur in downtown Edmonton, Alberta
  • Hours: All work must be completed during regular business hours
  • Canadian residency: Must reside in Canada and ensure all work is performed within the country
