Reporting to the Director of ERP Implementation, the Security Lead is responsible for managing the overall approach to the City’s security framework for the implementation of the ERP cloud solution S/4HANA/SuccessFactors/IAG (Enterprise Commons). This role is central to driving security strategy, governance, and compliance to ensure the SAP environment remains secure, scalable, and aligned with industry best practices.
The Security Lead requires deep technical knowledge of SAP architecture, data security, and cloud solutions. You will collaborate closely with the system integrator and cross-functional teams to maintain a robust security infrastructure, lead your project stream in partnership with the Business and Technical Functional streams, and make critical operational, budget, and schedule decisions. You are accountable for the successful delivery of assigned projects, ensuring every deliverable and outcome is achieved through influence, collaboration, and effective problem-solving.
Responsibilities- Maintain and update the security plan and procedural manual for the ERP solution in conjunction with the Systems Integrator.
- Ensure the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of information holdings by enforcing information security policies and procedures.
- Define and coordinate security roles for users in liaison with Functional Leads and the Security Architecture.
- Maintain a register of security authorizations and access levels, and assign security roles to all positions.
- Monitor system access, identify and report on security breaches, and undertake random security audits.
- Research, analyze, and evaluate SAP IAG, S4/HANA and SuccessFactors security and access policies, practices, and procedures.
- Assess the impact of system configuration changes on security roles and provide recommendations for system integrity and consistency.
- Proactively research and evaluate new SAP security technologies and methodologies to address evolving threats and drive process improvement.
- Lead and support multi-disciplinary teams consisting of consultants, contractors, business partners, and internal/external stakeholders such as the Open City and Technology Branch.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and networking across the corporation to support Program Vision and Mission.
- Work with stakeholders to define project goals, objectives, and deliverables; develop project plans, negotiate resources, and establish timelines.
- Manage, monitor, and report on project status and health, ensuring deliverables are on budget, on schedule, and within scope.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project and reputational risks to the City.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable policies, directives, and guidelines.
- Conduct research and environmental scanning to stay current on emerging trends and best practices.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong knowledge of industry IT security and SAP security tools, technologies and standards
- Strong project management skills, including familiarity with recognized methods and techniques.
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and working effectively with external consultants.
- Exceptional planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle complex and sensitive issues through negotiation and conflict resolution.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including experience with facilitation, report writing, and presentations.
- Ability to delegate tasks, empower team members, and foster a collaborative, integrated working environment.
Qualifications and Assets- Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline. A Master’s Degree is considered an asset.
- A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible IT security management experience, with demonstrated experience managing large-scale, enterprise-wide technology projects.
- Preferred Assets:
- Certification or training in IT security, project management, or change management would be considered an asset.
- Project Management Certification or designation.
- Experience with SAP S4 Hana and SAP SuccessFactors
- Experience with IAG and/or SAP GRC
- IT Security Certification
