Description IT Operations Manager (Contract | Hybrid | Edmonton, AB) 
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (hybrid, 2 days per week)
Hours: 40 hours/week
Term: Through Aug 31, 2027 (with potential extension)
Start: Targeting late August 2026

About the role Our client is seeking an IT Operations Manager to lead a team responsible for the delivery, support, and continuous improvement of IT services and operational capabilities. You’ll work closely with business stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams to ensure services are reliable, efficient, and aligned to organizational goals.

What you’ll be doing
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team delivering IT operations and service excellence.
  • Plan and prioritize operational work to improve service quality, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and ensure technology services support business outcomes.
  • Provide governance and leadership across operational practices and emerging technologies.
  • Partner with architecture, project delivery, cybersecurity, infrastructure, data, and business teams.
  • Drive performance measurement and reporting (service metrics, trends, and continuous improvement).
  • Oversee operational processes/standards to ensure compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage operational risk, controls, and business continuity/service availability.
  • Lead problem management and root cause analysis to prevent recurring incidents.
  • Manage vendor/contractor relationships to ensure service commitments are achieved.
Required qualifications
  • Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or Diploma in Computer Engineering/System Technology (recognized post-secondary).
  • 2+ years of leadership/supervisory/management experience.
  • 5+ years in an IT operations/support/application/data/service delivery environment.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • IT service management principles and operational support practices
    • Incident / problem / change / service request management
    • Stakeholder relationship management
    • Vendor and contract management
    • Operational governance, risk, and compliance
    • Budget planning and resource management
    • Continuous improvement initiatives
    • Cloud, on-prem, or hybrid environments
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Proven ability to mentor, coach, and develop employees.
  • Strong analytical skills; able to identify improvement opportunities and implement change.
Preferred / nice-to-have
  • Certifications such as ITIL, PMP, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma (or similar).
  • Experience managing enterprise-scale operational environments.
  • Some project management experience (helpful, not required).
