Job Opportunity
Description Digital Architect (3) | Remote Across Canada

Our Client is seeking up to three (3) Digital Architects to provide the architectural direction that helps cross-functional agile teams move fast without breaking trust, aligning user-centered design with modern engineering practices and enterprise-scale solution thinking. You’ll guide teams through discovery, modernization, integration, and iterative delivery while translating complex technical decisions into clear, actionable direction for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Lead solution architecture for digital services, including:
    • Developing the overall architectural plan aligned to a citizen-centered, agile software approach
    • Uncovering existing system context and recommending modernization strategies
    • Producing technical discovery outputs such as recommendations, prototypes, and feasibility direction
    • Owning solution designs that support iterative delivery across multiple releases
    • Assessing impacts, risks, and exposure tied to architecture decisions
  • Guide implementation and delivery by:
    • Enabling frequent delivery to ensure the target architecture is achieved
    • Defining integration approaches, system boundaries, and interaction patterns
    • Identifying opportunities to reuse shared components and capabilities across services
    • Supporting detailed solution design and reviewing code changes
    • Contributing to development work when needed to complete user stories and technical tasks
    • Coaching and mentoring developers and technical leads within the team
  • Contribute to platform and practice evolution by:
    • Helping shape an architectural vision for user-centric services and shared capabilities
    • Supporting the creation of principles, standards, metrics, and service quality practices
    • Producing clear architecture communications (documents, diagrams, presentations) for varied audiences
    • Participating in continuous improvement of the architecture practice
Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field (equivalencies considered)
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional agile product teams, providing architectural direction, and mentoring developers/technical leads
  • Experience as a software architect delivering enterprise-scale solutions using modern development stacks in complex organizational environments
  • Experience collaborating with teams using UX design, service design, design thinking, or human-centered design approaches
  • Proven ability to define and communicate architecture for large-scale systems, including integrations, modernization strategies, and cloud-native design patterns
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to influence decisions and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Nice to have
  • Secure development practices, identity and access management (RBAC/ABAC), and Zero Trust principles
  • API and integration design experience (including RESTful services)
  • CI/CD pipelines with automated testing, deployment, and observability practices
  • Incremental modernization of legacy platforms into modern digital services across multiple releases
  • Containerization, orchestration, and infrastructure as code in cloud or hybrid environments
  • Experience with relational and non-relational databases (schema design, performance tuning)
  • Familiarity with public sector digital service frameworks or enterprise architecture standards
